How to Get a Miniature Superbike to Go Faster

How to Get a Miniature Superbike to Go Faster

While miniature superbikes are modeled after their larger counterparts in appearance, the speed and performance of these bikes certainly do not match. However, these scaled down motorcycles are not toys, as many are able to reach speeds of 70 mph. These bikes usually come available with 50cc 2-stroke motors to 125cc 4-stroke motors. Riders generally use these bikes for leisurely fun, but miniature bikes are also used in competition. If you would like to make your pocket bike faster, there are a few bolt-on parts that offer a performance gain.

Things You'll Need

  • Air filter (wire-mesh)
  • Metric wrench set
  • Exhaust pipe
  • Exhaust header

Instructions

  1. Air Filter

    • 1
Replace the stock air filter in your miniature superbike. Air filters are typically located underneath the seat of these mini bikes, therefore you need to remove this section for access. Pull the seat off of the bike and set aside for later use.
    • 2
Unfasten the air filter from the attached tube using the necessary wrench for removal. The filter is a cone-shaped part mounted vertically on these pocket bikes.
    • 3
Install a wire-mesh air filter, as these may be reused after cleaning. Factory filters are made from paper and are not reusable after they get clogged with debris. These aftermarket filters add a slight performance gain, as well. Secure with the original fastening hardware.
    • 4
Replace the seat of your miniature bike. Snap this piece back into place until properly secured.

    Exhaust System

    • 5
Replace the stock exhaust pipe and header with a performance system. Factory setups provide limiting ways for exhausted gas and air to exit the bike's engine. Aftermarket exhaust systems allow the engine to breathe more easily, increasing power.
    • 6
Remove the fairing bolts to access the original exhaust pipe hardware. Most of these miniature bikes cover the hanging hardware of the pipe and header with fairings, or body panels, and you must remove these to reach these engine parts.
    • 7
Unscrew the exhaust pipe from the connecting header. Slide out the header and lift off the hanging hardware. Set this pipe aside for disposal.
    • 8
Unbolt the stock header at the bottom of this part first. Unscrew all of the bolts from the engine block and lift away from the motor carefully.
    • 9
Bolt the new header to the engine block, making sure the pipe lines up with the cylinder ports. Refer to the manual of your new header for toque specifications. Secure the bottom of the header with the original hardware. Slide the new exhaust pipe into place and secure with the provided hardware. Reinstall all fairings that were removed for access.

  1. I’ve been surfing online more than three hours today, yet I never found any interesting article like yours. It’s pretty worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all webmasters and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before. indian motorcycle tours
